North wind conditions demand launching off of the Lakeside Launch... Run and jump then hang an immediate right to hug the hill... Catch a small core out of the slot that burned a few years ago and ride the snake to 6,600'...

Glacier Peak Wilderness

This years incredible snowpack can still be seen blanketing the high peaks to the southwest... Thermals seemed to top out in an inversion layer that was around 6,500'-6,700'.. No XC flights today but an acceptable flight none the less...

Dave soars above the Butte... Dave, Danny and myself stuck it out until the north wind seemed to chop things up a bit.. Our last good climb took us from the vicinity of the numbers back to the plowed fields southwest of launch.. Danny and Dave elected to search for lift between the butte and the airport but ended up in the junkyard LZ after all.....

North up the Columbia River

I have always tried to imagine what the mighty Columbia must have looked like before the series of dams was built... Story goes that there were huge sets of rapids that made travel on the river hazardous to human life...
