Mostly Slim Shady..

Ditched work with a couple of buds this afternoon.. Had to sit and freeze for an hour while waiting for the over- development to dissipate..

The sun broke through the din and we bailed into it at around 3:00.. I took a gnarly little piece of something that eventually turned into the goods all the way to cloudbase..

Off the East End..

Since the sun had only heated up the east end of the hill, we concentrated our early efforts in that direction.. For a while, it appeared that things were going to be quite rosy for the afternoon..

Down in the lower left of this image, Russ was on his way up..

It Looked so Good..

Not long after we made our initial climb to around 5,000 feet, the cycle shifted from "big up" to "big nothing"..

Search and glide around as best we could, that sinking feeling wrought itself upon us.. We had apparently blundered by not immediately moving out towards open ground; away from the hills..

Sometimes patience can be a bad thing..

Mid-Level Instability..

My guess is that the middle atmosphere was hugely unstable today.. It looked like anything that made it up high just flattened out and spread over the sky like that disgusting lard frosting on Joe Albertson's cupcakes..

I wonder what they're trying to cover-up..? Just another corporate conspiracy..
