First Flight of 2002..

Drove up I-5 while looking into an obvious rain filled sky to the north.. The wind was cranking out of the west so I just kept the faith until I arrived at launch in the rain to find zero wind conditions..

After a short nap, I awoke to zero rain and a fresh breeze straight up the cliff; threw my stuff in the mud and got ready to bail..

Launched a little bit askew, but sorted it out and climbed to 2,300 feet in glass air..

Mostly Cloudy and Mostly Wet..

A short time after launch, it began to sprinkle.. I flew way out over the bay to try and get ahead of the rain.. That seemed to work for a while, but the rain persisted.. Even up towards Chuckanut Mountain the wet stuff still nagged at my leading edges..

I have this clear aversion to flying my glider when it's wet.. My glider also seems to have the same aversion to wet flight..

All Wet..

As you can see, I was not the only one to have the same idea at Blanchard Hill today.. For me, it's been a long winter without a flight.. So long that my camera's batteries gave up the ghost right after I took this shot..

While I only stuck it out for around 30 minutes, the airtime felt great and the hike back up the hill felt even better..

Bring on the spring..!
