Rampart, 7,500..

An east day at Rampart proved to be a most interesting experience..

I spent quite a while waiting for a lee-side thermal up the front to launch in.. Huge dust-devil cycles on launch punctuated the wait with an almost Chelan-like sense of anticipation..

The conditions cooperated at around 3:30 and the ensuing climb was quick and easy..

City Haze..

The low lying haze of the city lazily made it's way up the I-90 corridor.. When it finally arrived and turned the conditions out of the west, the thermal conditions noticeably deteriorated..

I think that the east-to-west convergence period was a huge factor in the excellent thermal quality that we experienced..

Behind Rampart..

There was decent lift on Mount Margaret.. While not as good as out in front of Rampart, we were able to get over there, get up, and get back with no problem..

Lake Laura (lower) and Lake Lillian (upper) highlight the little valley called Rocky Run..

"R" Wall..

No Rampart flight photo log would be complete without an image of "The Wall"..

With the predominantly east wind during my flight, I never dared to venture very deep into the lee-side of Gold Creek Valley.. The late arriving pilots may have made the trip once the conditions turned west though..
