Bellingham Area..

Skipped out on the Beach'n on Saturday so I had to try and fly somewhere.. Turned out that Blanchard Hill was happening on a Saturday for once..!

RAD Rod and I jammed up the hill and launched a little after 2:00.. We were able to hang out in ridge lift until the sun came around enough to heat up the west face.. Then the thermals came out to play..

Lake Samish..

I found a nice little thermal that got me going.. It made a downwind drift towards the upper part of the hill and then it was off to the races..!

Great 800 fpm climbs right up to cloudbase at just below 4,400 feet.. Not bad for Blanchard..!

It's not Kid Rock..

There were some down cycles that kept things interesting.. It only made sense to try and stay back on the upper part of the hill though.. The wind didn't appear to be strong enough to worry about getting back out..

I never got down close enough to the rock to see if the climbers were out..

Alger Hill..

A small squall drifted in from Bellingham Bay.. It looked like rain so I elected to make an easy egress into the Alger area.. Unfortunately, the squall's accompanying cloud mass shut down the valley as I approached.. I was able to work the dying remnants but the writing was on the wall..
