Above it All..

It was extremely cold above the low cloudbase this afternoon.. The clouds started forming at around 3,000 feet.. There was consistent lift going above the clouds late in the flight..

I was able to circle up high enough to get this shot of the Bellingham area through a small gap in the clouds..

Chuckanut Drive..

I got to around 3,300 feet during the flight.. The first hour was not quite that good though.. I recall that I spent that initial period floating in glass air at around 2,500 feet..

The consistent west wind made for a comfortable stay out on Chuckanut Mountain..

San Juan Islands..

I know this parting shot is out of order but there are a couple of interesting images that I'll include in the spaces below..

I just love the way that the shadows make such interesting shapes on the water..

Green Grass Country..

The green fields were shining in the early evening sun.. This image does not do justice to the clean texture that prompted me to try and capture..

This shot is from just about exactly over the Duck Club LZ..

Self Portrait..

A rare view.. Dig that circular rainbow effect with the shadow of my glider in the middle.. I've heard this type of effect called "The Glory"..

I'll just call it really cool..!
