New Snow in the Cascades..

The snow level has been down this week.. We ran into almost a foot of snow on the road up the hill.. We had to hike our gliders up the last steep pitch.. No problem though.. A little sweat never hurt anyone..

I launched at 2:20 and promptly sunk down 500 feet before I got settled into a scratchy little bubble that got me up.. Good thing too.. It turned out to be a stellar day..!

Near Cloudbase..

We worked our way west along the ridge.. Once we made the crossing to Stimpson Hill, it became apparent that the clouds were working a little bit further out on Mount Washington.. After a few turns, we had it made..

The good lift was quite a ways out past the end of the hills.. Quite a ways out from the landing area too though.. Oh well..

GhostBuster..

I was in a great position to glide to the Arlington Airport.. 5,700 feet would have been plenty.. But, rather than cut the flight short, I elected to go back to the clouds..

Scott stayed in the right spot for quite a while, and then flew his GhostBuster to the airport.. Great flight Scott..!

Out on Washington..

Not your typical view from Frailey Mountain.. But, you've got to go where the lift is.. Even if it's not where it's supposed to be..

We spent a great amount of time circling over Mount Washington.. Usually, there's little reason to hang around this area.. Today was an exception..

Ebby Hill..

Towards the end of the flight I made my way over to Ebby Hill.. Myself and four incredibly curious young bald eagles circled up together.. One of them made numerous investigation passes from behind.. I could have almost reached out and touched him..
