South Down the Road..

I ran up to Blanchard Hill on a whim this afternoon.. The predicted west winds were, as usual, out in the Strait of Juan de Fuca.. When I arrived at the top, painful reality was a light breeze instead of the dream..

On days like this at Blanchard, how many times have you heard, "it looks like the wind lines are getting closer..!" Today, they actually did..

Great Development..

The clouds all around looked great..  There were only the most feeble cumulus formations above the hill and those would only appear for brief moments..

A few eagles took advantage of the light cycles so I figured there was a chance..

Climbed to 2,200 feet in very weak thermal lift..

The Bat Caves..

After I topped out the cycle, I ran down the ridge looking for the good stuff.. It was not to be on this day.. There was just enough south in it that the bowl to the north was full of trashy sink..

The eagles were able to make good use of it though.. Maybe I just didn't commit far enough to the north..

Classic Blanchard..

I just love this view out over the San Juan Islands..

The afternoon sun brings shinning silver from the depths of the bay..
