Big Air at Blanchard..

The wind was really cranking today..! At least 25 gusting to 35.. The direction was not too bad so Scott talked himself into launching.. After he survived it, I decided that he shouldn't be the only one who made a questionable decision for the day..

I had a great unassisted launch and climbed in smooth air to 4,500 feet without really turning at all..

Anacortes, WA..

The lift was as smooth as glass above 3,000 feet.. I blundered into an odd convergence zone or wave ripple in the air.. I rode the goods another 1,500 feet until I got cold enough to consider landing..

I couldn't help but think that the velocity on the ground was going to be interesting.. I was not disappointed....

Bellingham, WA..

The entire area was ultimately surrounded by clouds.. There were a few sun breaks in the vicinity but the unstable atmosphere filled in with clouds as fast as the sun hit the earth..

You've got to love springtime in the great pacific northwest..!

Sky'ed out..!

Even with the outstanding performance of my LiteSpeed, it was difficult to penetrate the gale force conditions.. There wasn't much point in trying to head up wind anyways..

I was happy to have gained enough altitude to make the landing area with no problem..

Parting Shot..

Today was one of those experiences that I will never forget.. There's no question that this was a great learning event..

It was a clear demonstration of, "what-not-to-do" at Blanchard Hill..
