First Day of Spring..

I can't think of a better way to spend the first day of spring than to spend it at cloudbase..

We launched before 1:00 and never looked back.. Took the first thermal all the way to the top with an immature bald eagle who insisted on proving that he was the better pilot..

Cloudbase, 4,500 feet..

Consistent climbs right up to the clouds.. It's tough to stay 500 feet below the clouds when the lift is so good..

If you're a Fly2K visitor from last season, you may recall that the snow in the high country was a dominant feature.. This year though, the snow line is waning already..

Can you see Blanchard Hill from here..?

What a change from yesterday's "high anxiety" flight; today was just "high"..

I think that if you look closely you can see Blanchard Hill through the haze.. Someday I'll fly to Blanchard from here..

North Fork of the Stilly..

The north fork of the Stillaguamish River snakes it's way through the valley.. Strain hard and you can see the town of Arlington..

Ebby Hill..

Towards the end of the flight I was able to barely make it over to the south face of Ebby Hill.. I was below the top so I had my hands full to get back up just enough to scoot back to the LZ..
