Drought Emergency..

As you can see, there is a drought emergency here in the pacific northwest..! I'm pretty sure that I saw at least one dry spot..!

Launched into a stiff southeast gale.. Rode the rotor up into the good air.. Right after launch, I was questioning my decision to fly.. But by then, it was too late to do anything about it; except deal with it..

Rain and Snow Mix..

Once I was able to punch up above the rotor zone, there was smooth lift up to 3,200 feet.. What a relief to finally get out of the wash from Colony Hill..

Shortly after it became obvious that I was going to survive, Darren and Conrad bailed and rode it out; up into the snow pellets..! 

South of Colony Hill..

Penetrating the strong south wind was no problem for my LiteSpeed.. I managed to find a weakly formed little cloudstreet that allowed me to glide almost to Bow without losing any altitude..

When I lost the buoyant air though, I had to make a hasty retreat back to the hill..

Above Colony Hill..

I took this shot as I approached the crest of Colony Hill on the way back to Blanchard..

Not a bad flight for the last full day of winter.. Spring has finally arrived..
