Bridgeport and Dyer Hill..

Well north of Mansfield you can intersect with a good east/west road that runs between Bridgeport and Leahy..

 Highway 17 follows East Foster Creek and affords a welcome group of lush green landing areas if you need them..

From here, Leahy and the basalt hills beyond are within an easy glide to the east..

Cumulus Everywhere..

While I am unclear about the exact location, I am definitely clear about the exact situation.. There were great clouds as far as the eye could see..

Except for the large overdeveloped area to the south, strong lift made the flight relatively easy..

Unfortunately, a late start (3:00 PM) made the flight short but sweet..

Northeast of Leahy..?

Here's another example of me flying blind.. Once again I have no clear idea where I was when I took this picture..

I think I was somewhere north of the Leahy area.. I'm pretty sure that the lake way off in the distance is called Big Goose Lake..

The Columbia River splits the plateau in the center of the picture..

Banks Lake..

Gliding towards a small landing field at the head of Wallace Canyon, I was treated to a fantastic view of Banks Lake..

Imagine the chaos and power that it took to carve the Grand Coulee out of solid basalt..
